Our 2011 Offerings:

THE MUSLIM-AMERICAN PERSPECTIVE
Workshop I: “Getting To Know American Muslims & Their Faith:” An overview of Islam and Muslims; contemporary issues of moderation and women’s rights; the relationship of Islam to other religions, including Judaism and Christianity.

Workshop II:  “Women In Islam:” The role of women in Islam—spirituality and their relationship to God, their rights and roles in the family and community; important Muslim women in history and the modern world.

Workshop III:  “The Roots Of Islam In America:”  The fascinating account of the lives and legacies of America’s earliest Muslims, including enslaved West Africans; early converts to Islam and Muslim immigrants.

Workshop IV: “Islamic Contributions To Civilization:”  Review of the various aspects of culture and knowledge which Muslims contributed to, including food, clothing, furniture, music, architecture, math, medicine, astronomy and more.

BALLROOM - SOCIAL - VARIETY DANCING
Get your exercise, meet new people and learn to enjoy yourself again!  The class will include fox trot, waltz, tango, etc. So strap on your dancing shoes and get ready to dance. (Singles welcome, minimum of ten students.)

WHAT’S LEGAL, WHAT’S NOT!
Workshop I:  “Will or Trust:  What’s the Difference?”  Each will be explained in detail and you will explore the differences.  Bring your questions so you can discover the answers to your questions!

Workshop II:  “The Power of----Powers of Attorney.”  This workshop will explain the different kinds of POA’S and when it’s appropriate to use them, their function and when they are necessary.  Bring your questions!

Workshop III:  “Mediate Don’t Litigate.”  Explore what is involved in mediating a dispute, divorce, etc. and find out how the courts view mediation.  Bring your questions!

LADIES BILLIARDS
Yes, you can!  Ladies, learn to play billiards.  It’s fun; you’ll learn the games, their techniques, new skills and enjoy a ‘cool’ sport.

STUDIO ART
In this coaching environment, intermediate to advanced students are encouraged to bring their painting questions and problems for individual and group resolutions.  You may work in any medium and experimentation is encouraged!

SPANISH FOR SURVIVAL
The class will cover common phrases for everyday life, speaking and writing phrases, grammar and phonetics and expanding your vocabulary and the tools to make this successful. This will be a very light and entertaining journey into the Spanish you have wanted to speak and understand.  (Minimum 10 students)

GRANT WRITING
Who me….write a grant!  You’re kidding!  Writing grants can be difficult and scary.  But once you learn what grants are asking, the intricacies, the technical skills and how to answer the questions, grant writing can become a fascinating and challenging skill.  Grant writing is a PLUS on any job application!  You, too, can become a grant writer!     (MINIMUM of ten students for this class)
