During the summer months Jason S. Millett, Attorney will be offering free legal advice at the Active Adult Centers. Take advantage Ask the Legal Expert. Bring your legal question(s) and receive advice that will get you on the road to resolving your issue(s) or at least giving you peace of mind.
Think about legal issues older adults are facing:
- How do you prevent yourself from being financial exploited? If it happens to you, what do you do?
- Can your Financial Power of Attorney take
advantage of you?
- What are the problems with joint bank accounts?
- How can you protect your property?
- If you have appointed an executor of your estate, what powers have you given to them when you are alive or deceased?
- Why would you do a Social Security Administration Representative Payee form?
- Can you gift $13,000 a year and still be eligible for ALTCS (Medicaid) in Arizona?
- Do you surrender any rights when you execute a power of attorney for health care or financial?
- Can you change your power of attorney or advance directives after you sign it? Who do you tell?
- How often should you review your legal documents, who should have a copy of them and where should you keep them?
- What is the difference between a guardianship and a conservatorship? What recourse do you have if your physical and/or mental status improves and you are no longer in need of this legal intervention?
- Can you change an Irrevocable Living Trust?
Remember to take an active role in your legal affairs now, when you are physically and mentally well.
